My best friends, a male gay couple (one from Britain, the other from the US by way of Pakistan). They have been married since 2009 and became fathers for the first time last April.
Their daughter Zara (pictured) is the biological child of her Pakistani father and a semi-anonymous egg donor (born via surrogate in a clinic in Mexico). Her little brother Tenzing was born two weeks ago via a surrogate in Cambodia. He is the biological child of the British father and the same egg donor so the children are half-siblings (full in our eyes).
These are two men who have jumped through every possible hoop (legal, financial, social, etc.) to make their dreams of fatherhood a reality. You have never seen two children more wanted and showered with love. My friends are breaking down barriers and will undoubtedly raise two brilliant, kind, compassionate and loving citizens.
